Interested in joing the Midcoast Writers Group? The Midcoast Writers group is open to writers of fiction and narrative/creative nonfiction, especially those intrigued by the idea of blending the two a la Tim O’Brien, Annie Dillard, Louise Erdrich, Norman Mailer, Joan Didion, Ernest Hemingway, Helen Macdonald, Bruce Chatwin, and many others. We believe in pushing ourselves to use language in unconventional ways to express “truths” that conventional language used conventionally can’t express. We are passionate readers and enjoy collectively curating a writer’s reading list geared toward helping us become better writers. While no experience is necessary, group members are serious writers who aim to improve through revision and ultimately wish to publish. During each meeting, we workshop one writer’s submission of no more than 4500 words. The group meets regularly in and around Rockland and is limited to six writers.
